A digital representation of information (numbers or labels) extracted from biometric samples and used for comparison.

Note 1 to entry: Biometric features are the result of a completed process for extracting biometric features.

Note 2 to entry: The use of this term by the mathematical community and the pattern recognition community should be considered.

Note 3 to entry: A set of biometric features can also be considered as a processed biometric sample.

Note 4 to entry: Biometric features can be extracted from an intermediate biometric sample.

Note 5 — Filters applicable to biometric samples are not in themselves biometric features, although the output from such filters may be. Therefore, for example, “own persons”
(“Eigenfaces”) are not biometric features
